Aside from the earthquake, today has been relatively interesting across Texoma. I-35 was the dividing line between a nice fall day to the east, and a spring day to the west. This is due to fog and low clouds that developed over the Arklatex region last night; That low cloud deck slowly progressed to the WSW into our area. The low clouds have stayed in place east of I-35 holding the temps into the upper 40's and lower 50's. While to the west of I-35 the temps are in the mid 60's. The temperature contrast can clearly be seen on this mesonet graphic.
Just a few days after beneficial rainfall in Texoma, more is on the way. While this event won't be as heavy as the last event, every drop counts when you're in a drought. Our next upper level system is currently off of the west coast and will move across our area Saturday. The system appears to move in with a slight positive tilt which will help to limit our rainfall amounts, especially west of HWY 75.
Once the system moves through, temperatures will quickly fall on Saturday as a cold front moves into the area; North winds will be very strong behind this system with gusts up to 40mph. It appears we will be impacted by a front every 2-3 days during t
he next week, or two. December is shaping up to be a chilly month. We will have more on the December outlook later this month.
