Changes Are On The Horizon!

Good Wednesday evening Texoma! If you've been observing the Facebook updates, you know that there is a pattern change on the way. Currently we are in a very stereotypical La Nina pattern; it's warm and dry! Luckily this is going to change soon, but not before we experience a few more nice days. Thursday and Friday will be beautiful with highs in the mid to upper 60's, some locations will see 70-73 degree readings on Friday. The first in a series of changes will begin Friday night, when a cold front moves through Texoma. Temperatures won't fall too much, but expect Saturday and Sunday's readings to stay in the 50's. The next change will be Monday through Tuesday when a low closes off over west Texas. This system will increase moisture in Texoma, especially south of the Red River. It appears some locations could receive .50-1.00" of rainfall, at this time. (Some isolated thunderstorms will be possible in south-central/southeast Texas.) As the system wraps up, and moves to the northeast, cold air will push south. Some models want to paint a wintry scenario over parts of northwestern Texas and southwestern Oklahoma. It's too early, and the evolving pattern is too unclear, to add snow into the forecast. As the models emerge on a scenario for next week, the details will then become more clear. (By Saturday morning we should have a good idea on how everything will pan out.) This system needs to be closely watched because it is January in the Southern Plains, but right now only rain is in the forecast. Following the system it appears an arctic cold front will ooze through Texoma late next week. This could be the start of winter in terms of very cold temperatures and possible winter precipitation events in the Southern Plains, to end the month!

Here is some eye candy for everybody that was leaving comments on Facebook about snow!
I rarely use the JMA model, but here is the latest run. It paints a very interesting scenario over our area with the upcoming system.(Note: This is only one model and one run of that model; not a prediction!)

Here's what the 18Z GFS is showing! (Note: The GFS can overplay an event, however, it has painted an interesting scenario over parts of Texas/Oklahoma for 3 runs.)

Texoma Weather will continue to keep you updated on this developing system. Again, we should have better idea by Saturday as to what this system will do; the system still needs to be sampled! Texoma Weather has a huge announcement to make, soon, so keep checking back for the big announcement.
